Have you come back from a trip with thousands of photos? They may well be backed up automatically if they were taken with a mobile phone, but wouldn’t you like to remember where the photos were taken and maybe who or what was in them? Mobile phones (but not most digital cameras) record the location of the photo as a latitude and longitude in the image metadata and use online databases to give a text description of the location as shown below:

These descriptions may not always be helpful or accurate. They may show a street address rather than the name of an institution such as an art gallery, or simply a postcode or administrative region.
